En el marco de la convención global de YouTube, Federico Scialabba (Music Brokers) compartió espacio con Dan Chalmers, Tasha Taylor, Paul Smith y Charlie Sánchez para abordar temas clave del ecosistema musical digital.

As part of YouTube’s Global Convention in Madrid, a meeting was held between the platform’s music division leaders and representatives of internationally active record labels. Federico Scialabba, president and co-founder of the independent label Music Brokers, took part in this closed-door session alongside YouTube executives and other professionals from the publishing sector.

The group included YouTube Music regional directors such as Dan Chalmers (Europe, Middle East and Africa), Tasha Taylor (Strategic Partnerships and Business Development for the same region), and Paul Smith (Asia-Pacific). Also in attendance was Charlie Sánchez, founder of the Spain-based label Metales Preciosos Música & Discos.

A Meeting of Executives with Global Reach and Operational Responsibility

The selection of participants reflected a mix of platform executives and leaders of independent recording projects with active operations across different territories. Federico Scialabba’s involvement stems from his role at the helm of a music company that manages its own catalog, develops licensed content, and distributes across Europe and Latin America. The meeting was part of YouTube’s internal institutional agenda and was not open to the public. However, it brought together key decision-makers with responsibilities spanning content, technology, and strategy.

Music Brokers: Independent Publishing with Long-Term Reach Under Scialabba’s Direction

Since the late 1990s, Music Brokers has pursued an editorial line focused on compilations, international licensing, conceptual projects, and catalog curation. The company’s operations include music publishing and rights management, based on a model that prioritizes direct control over production, publishing, and distribution. Based in Buenos Aires, Music Brokers has built solid connections with both physical and digital distribution networks. Its catalog features original releases and licensed works, organized independently of mainstream trends or fast-consumption cycles.

Exchange Between Actors with Different Approaches but Shared Responsibilities

The meeting in Madrid brought together professionals who operate at different scales but hold equivalent strategic roles. On YouTube’s side, participants are responsible for managing institutional relationships with artists, labels, and distributors in each region. On the side of independent labels, attendees lead fully developed editorial structures with control over all stages of the music production process. Within this framework, Federico Scialabba’s participation illustrates how editorial projects with strong individual identities can engage directly with global platforms—without the mediation of large corporate intermediaries.
